Background:
At age 16, Otto came to realize he was a mutant. This happened as he was chewing on the end of his pen while doing homework, when to his shock he realized he had eaten it. It didn't hurt, didn't make him sick and there was no trace of ink or anything in his mouth. More curious than frightened, Otto sampled other objects...paperclips, pencils and even a stapler...it seemed there was nothing he couldn't bite into and digest.
Over the next few days, along with normal foods, Otto found out that indeed there was apparently nothing he couldn't eat...or drink for that matter. So long as the consumables, safe or not, went into his mouth and didn't contact any other part of his body, he was fine. And everyday he consumed more, he felt stronger.
But over the next few days, no matter how much waste he got rid of, he still felt full...too full to eat or drink. His body began to shake constantly and he found himself becoming increasingly agitated. One day he lost his temper and his the side of his brick house, which made a hole in it. Although shocked, he was unharmed, though he immediately felt a little weaker. Through reasoning, Otto discovered that the things he digested gave him more than human strength, and a measure of invulnerability...but this had to be drained off rather quickly or it started doing him harm.
Unfortunately for Otto, his necessity to divert his energy made for a tough time at home. His parents, though they loved him, grew fearful of him and for him as well. The neighborhood had began to talk.
Reluctantly, his parents withdrew Otto from his high school and enrolled him with an academy for special children.
